These ships performed very well and played a major role in combat. the Galaxy refit The Galaxy Class, outdated by the new Sovereign class, needed an upgrade and was therefore refitted extensively. Armament and defense systems were upgraded and the class was equipped with a third nacelle allowing higher warp speeds.
