To ensure this Starfleet put in place a dual construction policy, firstly focusing on the building of smaller combat orientated vessels and secondly concentrating on the upgrading of current vessels. From this initiative the USS Armada was created, utilizing the already proven Galaxy Class design, the Armada is intended to act as a warship that is capable of fulfilling any exploration duties required of the Galaxy Class and to possess formidable weapons for combat situations. To further the ships usage Starfleet integrated a weapon pod similar to those installed onto Nebula Class vessels onto the Armada to increase its combat efficiency. The fear of an uprising of minor powers within the Alpha Quadrant to challenge the control of territories led Starfleet to install Photon and Quantum torpedoes onto the Armada Class which makes the vessel extremely effective in battle situations. Possessing multiple heavy phaser arrays and a single high energy phaser the Armada is a threat not to be challenged. Tactical Analysis: Armada Class vessels possess: *16 Heavy Phasers *1 High Energy Cannon *16 Torpedo Launchers (Photon & Quantum) The Armada Class warship possesses similar capabilities of the Galaxy Class which makes the ship ideal for exploration, combat, research and many other duties expected of ships of the Federation.
