When compared to the Original Defiant, this ship as tougher forward shields, improved handling, and increased speed. The monitor is more powerful than that of the standard torpedo as it can fire 6 forward Quantum or Photon Torpedoes instead of the Defiants 4, and can fire 3 of either torpedo aft (the same as the Defiant). This ship can take on most heavy cruisers and give most battle cruisers a run for their money (including the Dominion BattleCruiser), although the Monitor would more than likely loose most of these fights, though it is still fun to use in game (even if it is more difficult to see).
