Description
===========
There are 3 main rooms, one is filled with computers, another has some slime and the other has a sort of tower. Its quite a cramped map so the the shotgun, trip-mines, grenades, snarks and even the crowbar are useful. If you're a sniper who longs for wide open spaces this isn't really for you (I hope to do a sniper friendly map some other time). Don't worry about the crackling, half destroyed computer: the sparks won't even tickle you... DO worry about the gauss: It looks tempting but there is a force field blocking the doorway. Touching it will kill as surely as a 10 megaton nuclear bomb. Fortunately there is a button for turning off the force field just down the corridor. The problem is there is no way of knowing whether the force field is on or off (except walking into it): no noise, no visual clue, snarks aren't affected and there certainly isn't any smell). So you don't know whether pressing the button will turn the force field on or off. So basically there is a 1 in 2 chance of you actually getting the gauss, and a 1 in 2 chance of you getting spread very thinly across the the floor. So which do you value more: the gauss or your life? Bear in mind there is no RPG, Hive-Hand or Egon because this level just isn't large enough for those weapons of mass destruction (and I hate the Hive-Hand, due to the complete lack of skill required to use it, plus its infinite ammo. It should never have been put in...)
Play Information
================
Single Player : Yeah... just pick up the snarks, chuck them
against a wall and run around trying not to get
bitten... great fun... if you have no friends...
Deathmatch : Yes (4-10 players, I'd recommend 6, there are 18 spawn points)
Teamplay : Maybe... I'm not sure how it would play...
Cooperative : No
Difficulty Settings : No
New Sounds : No
New Graphics : No
Construction
============
Base : New level (but I think I was subconsciously influenced by DM6,
my favourite Quake map)
Editors : Worldcraft 2.0
Known Bugs : The ladders disappear depending on where you are in software mode.
If anyone knows how to fix this contact me: aflea@dog.com
There don't seem to be any other bugs, except some minor lighting defects.
Build Time : 40 hours? 50 hours?
Compile time : 7.5 minutes (on my PIII-500, 128Mb RAM)
Running the map
===============
Extract the file "cray.bsp" into the "Valve\maps" sub-directory
of your Half-Life directory and then either join a server running
the map or start you own server, selecting "cray" from the list of maps

This is my first Half-Life map, and it started as a sort of practice... but I believe the best way to practice is to do something for real so this is a perfectly playable Half-Life level. I'e tried hard to keep r_speeds down (only in one small place do they go above 600), the lighting is cool (IMHO which is extremely biased), connectivity is fairly good and I tried hard to keep weapons balanced. I hope to do another map soon, probably a teamplay map or maybe a Xen based one... If you play this map e-mail me at aflea@dog.com (put "Cray Facility" as the subject) with any comments you have, even insults.
