{ Asian Sword akimbo for knife }
- a replacement weaponmodel for CSS by hamburghannes@gmx.de
GENERAL INFORMATION
15th/Feb/2007
It's been a rough 2 weeks since my second replacement, here comes the third - everything done by me again.
Go ahead and vote me skinner of the month :-P
You don't have to use my sounds ( which was actualy me belching in my microfone ) - just don't copy them, the original ones fit this too - so stop complaining please :)
Video
Okay, this was not really meant to be released at first, I just wanted to test normal mapping.
(The model you can see has ~2900 triangles but it's based on a high poly version with ~50.000 triangles. The high poly model's shape was "baked" on the low poly model with normal maps.)When the mesh and the textures were done, I thought that it might be fun to animate it as well and once that was done, compiling it for CS:S was not a big deal anymore.
The sword is not based on a reference, I invented it, a fantasy thing.
As for the world/perspective models, i could not make the player hold two swords because of consistency warnings ( VAC thinks you try to cheat when your replacement's size exceeds the originals a lot ).
I included the original UVs and Wires so you can paint your own textures, but remember to ask for permission if you want to release your version or make it public in any way.
Have fun!
Regards, hamburghannes.
P.S.: Thanks to the guys over at the CDG and FPS forums for comments and critcism while this thing was a w.i.p.!
OPTIONAL STUFF
There are optional versions of the idle position and the animations.
You can swith between these by copying the content of the appropriate direcory from the archive to the locations mentioned above.
You know you're doing it right when you are asked to replace the original files.
For those of you who don't like the "ninja" sounds: just don't install mine, the original ones fit as well.
INSTALLATION
Short Version: Copy the folders in the "cstrike" directory of the archive to your cstrike directory.
Long Version: Open the cstrike folder of the archive. You should see three folders called "sound", "materials" and "models". Mark these three, copy them and open your original cstrike directory. The path is usually something like this: "..Halflife_2\SteamApps\USERNAME\counter-strike source\cstrike" ) You will have to paste the three folders here. If you are being asked to overwrite something you can do so, the original directories won't be changed , only the new files will be added.
UNINSTALLATION
Guess what - simply delete the files ( not the folders! ) you copied to your cstrike directories. It's a good idea to keep the archive of this replacement, so you can check which files have to be deleted later on.
