Foreword: No sooner than I start bitching about my broken SDK, I found a simple fix. This reskin was done rather quickly (about a day and a half total) but I think it came out pretty well.

Installation: Drop the VMT & VTF files into materials/models/items. This reskin will work in both single & multiplayer, as well as other modifications that utilize the crate prop.
