Here are the portal textures from various stages on Portal's development:
The portals from the trailer.
The portals from the X06/GameInformer videos.
The associated particles, because they're broken as all fuck.
There is missing client code in the retail version of Portal related to
local portal static, so I had to do portal static on local texture with a
material proxy hack. Because of this, portal static on the local portal
disappears several times faster than on the remote portal.
It took me a few months to assemble these and port them to retail
Source. The only surviving copies were a few TGA sequences that
contained "pieces" that needed to be assembled by specific Photoshop CS1
actions that were MIA. After essentially trial-and-erroring the
Photoshop actions, I had to document almost all of Portal's undocumented
material and shader features from scratch in order to get them working
in the first place. This documentation is being compiled and added to
the VDC so that anyone can create any arbitrary portal skin they want.

Yes! I have permission from Valve to release these. This is a long-released game and it's only content, not code.
