I found out that the textures were lacking mipmaps and alpha channels for the phong mask.
Alright. I recompiled (and applied fixes, because recompiling breaks stuff) ALL Bill's Berets for each class so they have separate texture files. Of course, I made the new textures as well so they now bear the class logo.
THIS WAS A PAINSTAKINGLY REPETITIVE JOB SO YOU BETTER NOT BE STEALING IT.
