After Engi-Bot performed successfully on the field, the Engineer soon found himself with a request for another robot. The Sniper needed time off to go visit his parents - he'd wanted to keep working instead but his dad called him a crazed gunman again for having too many people to kill to make time for his parents, and he wanted to shed that image. So, he asked the Engineer to make a robot to fill in for him. After many days and nights of work, the Sniper-Bot was complete. It goes online today.
The second of my robot class skins is complete. I'm going to skin and submit each class like this, I realise I need feedback on each one to tweak and further perfect them. The final pack with all of these will contain updated and improved versions of every skin, based on the feedback I get here - so certainly give some.
This comes with the same bells and whistles as the last one - selfillum, phong, normals, animated coloured lights on the face, and HUD icons. It also has a power button on its back, rather than an on/off switch, as someone suggested from my last skin.
What it has extra as something special for the Sniper is a custom scoped-in view too (the block of binary code on the view isn't just random - if you're bored enough to translate it you'll see what it means ;D). The archive contains a readme with instructions to install the skin and not the custom scoped view (since it may not be to everyone's liking). Screenshot here 'cause I ran out of slots: scoped view.
Sadly the eyes do not glow in the dark. Selfillum doesn't seem to work with the eye textures, and any attempt to alter the texture so it DOES work ends up stopping the eyes from moving around (and they kinda roll down and to the side, so it looks retarded).
Fun trivia: the bolts on either side of his jaw are from the Kukri.
Hope you enjoy this latest work, I think it's even better than the Engi one.
