Anyone who follows my work here on FPSBanana, knows one of the first skins I did (which looks so bad now in comparison to my current work!), was replicating the Doctor's suits from the British show Doctor Who.
The issues I've always had, is color and pinstripe width.
I have a small clipping from the REAL blue suit, and have been in the presence of/have a replica of the brown suit.
I know all of the colors, but putting them on here has always been an issue. For example, the brown suit is a cotton mix of biege and chocolate brown. The problem with this, is that while it creates a solid color to the eye, it's constantly two colors being seen in the fabric, and thus it changes in lighting ALL the time.
I have finally found a good balance and am as close as I am going to get with a single color. If I could somehow weave two different colors together on photoshop, believe me I would! I know their hex codes after all!
As for the blue, the same issue arrises, but it's all one weave, so the color is easier to match in a video game.
The pinstripe for brown is cornflower blue, and the pinstripe for blue is rust red.
The issue I've always had with the pinstripe, is the pixel width. I can't go below 1 pixel in photoshop, but when the skin is on the Spy, there is pixel stretching, which causes the stripes to become wider. So how to I make them thinner if I can't make them smaller in my editing program?
Simple! I made a larger texture file to work with. The outcome is much higher in quality, and providing you have a snazzy computer, they should stay pretty crisp, even up close.
This time I managed to keep all textured shadows back in rather than painting in a solid color, and removed the converse circle (as it would always stretch and look untidy!).
ARMS/SLEEVES - COMING SOON!
HWM HEADS - COMING SOON!
I'm finally happy with it!
