When a leader is killed, the flag is dropped, and can be taken by teammates. Whoever takes the flag then becomes the new teams leader. If noone takes it, after a while the flag is returned to base, and all translocator beacons for that team are destroyed. While a team has no leader, whenever a player in that team is killed, enemy team gains 1 point (2 if killed by enemy leader), like a kind of Team Death Match. If the leader kills himself, his team loses 5 points! Team leaders cannot be killed by teammates even if friendlyfire is > 0.
